Undersized
Almost always in documentary production, the story evolves up until the final cut. Undersized is a story that has undergone immense changes since its conception. In the beginning, it aimed to follow the parallel stories of WNBA Hall-of-Fame coach Becky Hammond (a Colorado State University alumna) and record-breaking CSU point guard McKenna Hofschild. In August 2023, Director John Barnhardt, Executive Producer John Festervand, and producers Rachael Mild and myself had a pitch meeting with the President of CSU, Amy Parsons, the CSU athletic director, and the CSU head of marketing. The goal of this meeting was to obtain a budget to make this documentary, which was met with almost immediate unanimous approval. The Barnfly Productions crew then put together a pitch deck for Becky Hammon, the last contributor from whom they would need approval. Becky Hammon, unfortunately, declined to participate in the documentary. Believing that there was still an important story to be told in this realm, the Barnfly Productions crew pivoted to focus on McKenna and the rest of her team. At that point, I took a backseat role to focus on other projects, and the documentary continued to evolve mostly without me. The pieces below are from the initial stages of the documentary when the plan was still to include Becky Hammon.
This is the reel that was part of the pitch deck sent to Becky Hammon. I was a producer and editor of this video.
