Garlic Confit
Two sisters' relationship is tested when one decides to move out.
Separate from my other narrative shorts because of its magnitude, Garlic Confit is my Honors Thesis project. I wrote the script, casted the actors, scouted the location, did all production design, and directed an almost entirely novice crew to shoot the 18-minute movie. In February 2024, Garlic Confit was shot over three-and-a-half days at a friend's home in Calamus Reservoir, Nebraska. The cast and crew is made up of six of my friends, each of whom gave up a long weekend to spend 20 hours a day doing everything necessary to actualize this project. I won the maximum amount of funding allotted through Colorado State University Honors Program's Thesis Improvement Grant ($400). I used the funds to transport and feed the cast and crew as well as purchase props, costume pieces and set design elements. February through May was spent editing, working with the movie's sound designer and composer, and coordinating with a local movie theater to host a premiere. On May 12, 2024, Garlic Confit premiered at The Lyric in Fort Collins, Colorado, to an audience of 51! It is now being entered into movie festivals, and is therefore not available for public viewing online. Feel free to contact me for a private link!
